Re: Legislative Branch
Yeah, you have a point. There would be less possibility of absent abstinence (whoa, that's fun to say), as it were. 72 hours for both, then, yes?

Re: Legislative Branch
Alrighty then. I'll piece together a preliminary draft of the article of the Constitution concerning the legislature, but all other members of the Convention are still allowed to discuss anything concerning the legislature that they wish.

Re: Legislative Branch
I suggest, for enforcing legislation, having a combined judiciary and executive to simplify things, embodied in the moderation staff. Maybe the moderators could be appointed by the Chairman?

Re: Legislative Branch
That's not a bad idea, but I tend to go more for separation of powers myself.
As for the moderation, seeing how the Chairman's term is so short, that would mean (more likely than not) high turnover rate. I would prefer if the administration would be responsible for itself; that way, if something goes wrong, it won't fall on the government, but the administration.

Re: Legislative Branch
Maybe fixed "terms" for the moderators? I also don't actually mind a high turnover rate, and I think popular moderators would be able to stick around indefinitely anyways; I think there'd only really be a turnover if people were unhappy with the moderation (for example, Chairman elections could campaign on removing an unpopular moderator or keeping a popular one as part of their platform). I think it's a neat way to incorporate a democratic element into an online community, which you don't often see.

Touché. With that in place, I also think the root administrator (yours truly) should be able to bump up a moderator to an administrator's position with 2/3 concurrence of the Commons, and since moderators/admins are positions technically outside of government, they should be able to hold other offices.

First I have to apologize for my absence.
Please forgive me for being away at such a crucial juncture in this process.

Secondly I endorse the points discussed by Free Confederate and Ysidro.
Im available to help draft language in the constitution.
This last bit though about the moderators and different branches of government is too much I think.
We dont need more layers of government. Unless mods abuse power, it should be left the way it is now. No elections or that sort.
We can defang the mods if need be through the judiciary when we get there.

Re: Legislative Branch
Maybe. I dunno.
Anyhow, would anyone else like to add anything to the discussion? It's getting kinda quiet in here.

Yeah, life is really hitting right now. And NS is not really my thing. This has been fun but I prefer real life over online forums. But this has been a good distraction though. Thanks. Enjoy the New Year.
