The Gentleman from The Shoree Empty The Gentleman from The Shoree

Post by The Shoree December 28th 2012, 11:30 pm

I'm an 18 year old college student wishing to be a high school history teacher. I play Rugby (I'm currently a winger, although I'm in the process of becoming a flanker) for my school, which is a ton of fun. Before playing Rugby I used to be heavily involved with mixed martial arts and wrestling, which I still have a passion for albeit I just don't have the time for it anymore.

Nationstates was the first place I've ever role played at, starting WAY back when I was but a wee 14 year old. I've been out of the NS RP world for quite some time as I have been bouncing about different forums that I still frequently visit. I like to consider myself a decent writer, but, 'eh.

A few fun icebreaker facts about me:

- I have my honorary black card, making me an unofficial African American.
- I'm 5'11'' and 157 lbs, making me the fourth smallest person on my rugby team.
- I hail from the great state of Maryland.
- I tend to bounce around concepts. Alot. My current idea for The Shoree is to make it a homeland for a group of gypsy-like people who (surprise twist) live on boats. This claim for the homeland has been disputed by some very confused, angry and well armed settlers who view it as their land. My first RP (whom I hope we might be able to make it into a regional event) is a resolution of this crisis before, or perhaps forcing it too, it comes to bloodshed.

That idea is likely to change.

- My favorite martial arts "attack", if you will, is the double leg takedown.

So, yeah. That's me in a nutshell.

That's awesome. Rugby, gypsies, NS veteran... sweet.

I like to think I have an honorary black card, but my niggas won't actually give one to me. For shame. Razz

I was just told I have an honorary black card. All I've had to was inform people was that I was a Caucasian male who listens to Waka Flocka and it gets the job done most of the time lol.

Yeah, that definitely would. Especially around where I live, half of the kids (in a predominantly white school) do stuff like that. One of them likes to claim he's 1/32 (that's around 3%, mind you) black, and so is entitled to acting like a black person. It's alternately hilarious and aggravating.

Yeah, people assume I act like that most of the time. I've had to explain to many people (including my parents) that I still act "white", it's just that I listen to stereotypically black music, I enjoy African-American comedians, and I occasionally use slang in an ironic way.

That, and I'm totes McGoats down for fucking a black chick.

For some reason, I'm not even remotely attracted to black women. I'm only racist in a sarcastic/black-humor way, but I've always gone for white women and Asian women. I don't understand.

I can understand that. To be honest, I'm attracted to women of more or less all races. As for the racism, good lord, can I spit out racist jokes (the part of Maryland where I'm from is more than a bit racist) despite the fact I am not racist myself.

But, none the less, I'm quite excited to be here. What's the general background for the nation of Hejira? A Monarchy, fascist, socialist, etc. etc.?

Ostensibly a monarchy. We're undergoing the writing of the Constitution as we speak, so feel free to get involved if you so desire.

We're on the legislature at the moment, and once we conclude that, we'll move on to the specifications of the royal family - succession, authority, etc.

Wait.

Is the region of Hejira one giant nation where we act as semi-independent parts of it before splitting off into a giant mess of former states much like the Soviet Union did?

Or did I confuse you into think I was talking about the region of Hejira when I was asking you about your NS nation of Hejira?

Oh, I thought you were talking about the region. Oops.

The Republic of Hejira is a Spanish-and-English-speaking nation with a climate similar to western Washington; a fusion of Celtic, Iberian, and indigenous cultures due to being ruled by both the Spaniards and the British (occasionally simultaneously) for 300 years before independence in 1997; and a semi-presidential republic as the government, with eight political parties currently composing the legislature (three of them splintering off one major party, and another splintering off a second). It's a load of fun. Oh, and field polo is the national sport.

Yeah. And those two major parties I mentioned? They're both different kinds of left-wing parties. The only party with right-wing tendencies is a "big tent" party.

It's fine, we've got someone on our team that HAS to be maybe 5'3'' at his tallest. We call him the "Bowling Ball", mostly because he can hit like crazy.

As for dating the black guy, I suppose that would count for your honorary black card haha.

And Ysirdo, for some reason I could never really get into making political parties for NS. Maybe it's because court intrigues just appeal to me as a writer, but, 'eh.

But, as I mentioned earlier, my concepts for ideas bounce around quite a bit. I've come up with a radical idea that I like MUCH more than my sea gypsy idea above.

The idea is that, during the French Wars of Religion, some priest had a relgious experience and thought his son was the child of god and ended up making a religion out of it (called Viaism, which is French for "The Way"). Naturally, the French goverment thought they were a bunch of heretics and exiled them to this island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean called St. Zachary. They have since lived on the island for the past five hundred years rather peacefully, and only now started to open themselves up to the world.

There a very closed, quiet people who are kinda like the Amish or the Puritans in a way. They dress in a manner fit for the 1930's, one of their two major cities seems more like a New England whaling town than an actual city, most of the population is still rural.

Oh, and they think that they're leaders is the child of god Razz so they're quite fanatical about that.
